Pain Therapy, Me, You, and Your Health – Part 1 of 3

Neck Pain, Lower Back Pain Relief on Bainbridge Island

Yes, I Have to Say It!

By
Coach Izzy

As I strive to integrate the different expressions of physical health into the continuum where they belong, I have developed a system that allows me to streamline all my learning and practical experiences over two decades in the field. I can say with certainty that it is one of the most satisfying and rewarding endeavors of my life as it has made a world of difference in my strength training/pain therapy practice. It allows me to identify problems others overlook, help my clients in ways they never thought possible, bring joy back to those who thought there was no hope, and empower them to take charge of their lives.

But at the same time, I recognize that ocasionally, things can get overwhelming and madly frustrating when unwelcome barriers arise.

Such barriers are not the result of any complexity inherent to the integrative process my system embraces. On the contrary, the message of integration is self-revealing and one that simplifies our lives and the understanding of ourselves. The barriers don’t come from the Id of the system, but from the irritating habit of mainstream wisdom to segment the continuum into unbecoming chunks. It overgeneralizes innovative concepts in an attempt to make them fit into one of the established biased fragments, and in doing so dilutes and skews the essence of the pioneering notion.

It is the price of innovation. It cannot be compared because the basis of comparison are virtually nonexistent, and as people try to make them fit to the existing models, they find yet more confusion. They don’t want to make the effort to analyze it for its own virtue, as that requires the arduous task of thinking and challenging established beliefs. They insist in trying to make it fit to preconceived notions, only to stumble as they find it impossible to do so.

But despite this, many make the effort to come out of their comfort zone to discover a world of freedom, health, and performance they once thought was beyond them. Their lives take an incredible turn, and it is one of the most satisfying moments a health professional can experience, and one that brings immense satisfaction.

That’s what keeps me going and learning. That’s what keeps me writing, and that is what keeps me energized every day. The possibility of making a difference in the lives of those who are ready to challenge the standards far outweighs any possible frustration that comes from those who insist in trying to understand the information under irrelevant criterions. That is why I am here.

What I am going to do next is go over the misunderstandings in one of the aspects of the continuum of my profession. I am going to go over the pain therapy facet and show you how most have very little idea of what involves, and how their own doing is what accelerates results or denies them entirely. I am going to go over some implausible assumptions that we accept as the norm, how pain therapy should fit into the continuum of health and physical fitness, and how it should NOT be viewed.

We are going to learn to see this by what it is, not by what others think it should be. I don’t expect everyone to accept it or fully understand it, and I am fine with that. I find resistance because –unwillingly- I defy what has been thoughtlessly accepted for years. The main challenge I present to my clients is to go through the efforts of looking for a new path. They have been following the old one for months if not years, with no results or relief. To continue following it is madness. It will not be easy at first, but it will eventually lead to efficient permanent results. Let’s get started.
